Directions: Harker Heights is just east of Killeen on US 190. The soccer fields are on the corner of N Amy Ln. and Turnbo Rd.

Background: It's said that there is a cowboy with red eyes who appears in what is now a soccer field near a sewage treatment plant. The cowboy walks across the field, then disappears into the sewage plant. He is said to be looking for the Indian tribe that killed his family in captive. When the cowboy disappears into the sewage plant, an Indian runs out of the trees in the direction of the sewage plant. Before he gets to the sewage plant you hear gunshots and the Indian falls in the tall grass. If you run over there you can't see the Indian but there will be a long dent in the grass where the cowboy dragged him. You can hear light screams from a distance.

July 9, 2004: Nevaeh and I went to the soccer field after work. We wanted to make sure we could find it (which turned out to be very easy) and just to have a look around. It's rare that a place can creep me out in daylight, but this one did a little. I guess because the story of the residual haunting reported here has a fair amount of detail. That doesn't make it anymore true, of course, but it does capture my imagination.

July 10, 2004: Grace, Nevaeh and I went back to the soccer field at nigh, along with Grace's friend Maria. The area is populated on two sides: the west and south. To the north is a patch of woods and to the northeast is the sewage treatment plant. We stayed for about an hour and didn't witness any haunting, residual or otherwise, but there were some interesting photos. I would really like to get more information on this place and story, as a residual haunting might only appear under certain circumstances in the atmosphere, or perhaps on the anniversary of the event. We have read up on several Indian massacres in the general area of Harker Heights, but nothing that can be pinpointed to this exact location.
